We protest in every forum that developed nations treat Pakistan like a slave, and that everyone suspects Pakistanis of dishonesty, yet no one understands that it is precisely because of actions such as those of our politicians that the world believes we are terrorists and cheaters. Who would trust a country whose politicians are declared criminals and cheaters and even then are not embarrassed by their actions?

Today’s headlines as I’m expecting it’d be: President sympathizes for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui and pledged to pursue the case in US High Courts. PM slams the decision and promised to talk to US Government. Nawaz Sharif denounced the court decision. Altaf Hussain, on his telephonic address, expresses his strong concern against the court decision on [...]

Politics — nowadays is also served on the dining table inclusive of some extra spice in association with the favorite political talk show being aired at that moment, otherwise the usual gossip on politics is always into the bargain at the dining table. The prominent thing about politics is that it’s unscheduled, in a way [...]

Only fools are glad when governments change. No, this isn’t my personal sentiment I’m expressing. It’s an old Romanian maxim that really-truly implies that it’s solely not the change of government that matters, but the change of system. Since the time Iskander Mirza, the first president of Pakistan, imposed the Martial Law and appointed General [...]

For Pakistanis, the earthquake of October 8, 2005 became a symbol of sympathy and assistance to others in their misery and sorrow. The government agencies were unable to handle this disaster, which was too massive for any single government or agency to tackle alone. It was the participation of the people, en mass, which enabled the government and all its wings to bear the heavy burden…
